Can you put liquids in a dumpster?

Covers: Liquids (buckets of water, sludge, chemicals)

Usually not

Short answer: No. Haulers don't take free liquids. Solidify non-hazardous liquids or take chemicals to HHW.

Why

Bagster lists liquids as unacceptable. Federal landfill rules (40 CFR 258.28) bar bulk and containerized liquid waste from municipal landfills except household waste and small household-size containers, but haulers and landfills commonly refuse loose liquids anyway.

What to do with them instead

Let water-based materials dry or solidify. Take hazardous liquids to HHW.
